Ali Shahriary of St. Louis' own Mississippi Valley N Scalers (MVNS) adjusts an N scale engine before placing it on the track. Many engines belonging to club members incorporate tiny state-of-the-art electronics that allow the speed and direction of the train to be controlled wirelessly. By using a handheld controller, the engineer can remotely acquire any engine on the layout and control its movement. Engineers even have the ability to blow the engine's horn, ring its bell, and trigger other sound effects.
